Welcome Our New Librarian!

Tammy Young is no stranger to the Swannanoa Valley. She has been a resident since she was approximately 2 years old with a couple of stints in Stanly County, North Carolina and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Tammy joined the Buncombe County Public Library System as a substitute approximately 12 years ago. Prior to that, she was a school media coordinator at Charles D. Owen High School and Reynolds Middle School for the last part of her public-school career. You might say she is a “retirement failure.”

Tammy is an avid Appalachian history buff, Anglophile (especially Wales), and historical fiction fan. Her Instagram is filled with pics of her “nephews,” Boodle and Gibbes, and in her spare time, you will find her hiking, sewing, crafting, and gardening on her family property in Buckeye Cove. Tammy is over the moon about her chance to join the Black Mountain branch and work with her neighbors in “the Valley.”
