Kanopy Comes to Buncombe County

Michelle is thrilled to announce that Buncombe County Libraries recently signed a contract to provide access to the Kanopy movie streaming service for all of our cardholders free of charge. Effective immediately, from the comfort of your own home and the coziness that lies therein, you can now choose from around 1200 films on any given day, with approximately 10 new offerings every month.

You can watch on your desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile phone, or smart TV. With no geoblocking and unlimited, simultaneous watching, you can enjoy your account from anywhere in the world where you have WiFi access, binge films to distract yourself from illness, or even plan a watch party with friends.  Whether you are in the mood for a foreign film, a documentary, award winning titles, or something light and easy to distract you from the world, there is a variety available to suit most tastes. I just enjoyed “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” and added a hard-to-find indie film to my watch list.

If you’re familiar with the abundance of streaming services for purchase, you should find Kanopy familiar and easy to use. However, if you’re new to streaming, never fear, your Black Mountain librarians will be happy to show you the ropes.

Either way head to https://www.buncombecounty.org/governing/depts/library/virtual-library.aspx  and scroll down to Kanopy to set up your free account.
