Chai Hot Chocolate
The original plan for December was that I was going to provide a recipe for one of my favorite winter beverages accompanied by a cozy photo of me in my robe curled up with my handsome cat. But then … I got this amazing opportunity to move to Black Mountain and become a full-time member of this creative and extremely walkable community.
While you still will be getting my Chai Hot Chocolate recipe, the photo is instead of me in the midst of moving chaos.
Chai Hot Chocolate
8 oz milk
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp sugar*
1 pinch salt
¼ chai masala**
Warm milk slowly over medium heat. Whisk in cocoa, sugar, salt, and chai masala.
*You may want to add more sugar. I like things a little less sweet.
**Chai masala may be purchased locally or online. However, if you, like me, love Indian food, you may have all the spices on hand to make your own for hot chocolate, tea, and baked goods!
Chai Masala
¼ cp cardamom
2 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp ground cloves
3 tbsp ground ginger
Mix thoroughly.
Happy reading and stay cozy, y’all!
