May 2024 Volunteer of the Month
The Friends of the Library are very thankful to have Emily Phillips as a volunteer. She is dedicated and hardworking. In addition to being an FOL Board Member, Emily is the secretary on the Friends of Buncombe County Libraries Board and is the Friends’ representative on the Buncombe County Library Trust Board. Needless to say, she spends many hours in meetings helping us to become more actively involved with community needs. Emily also volunteers at many of our sponsored events, and you will often see her smiling face at the Black Mountain Tailgate Market, greeting people at the FOL table.
Emily and her husband Randy moved here full-time from Charlotte, NC when Emily retired as the lower school chaplain at Trinity Episcopal School. Her first action upon moving to Black Mountain was to obtain a library card. Yes, Emily is a voracious reader and enjoys sharing her love of books with others. In her spare time Emily enjoys traveling and spending time with her 5 adorable grandchildren.
