March 2024 Volunteer of the Month
We are very grateful to have Judi Repman as our FoL Secretary. She is a go-getter and pitches in wherever there is a need. In addition to the Secretary duties, Judi disseminates publicity about upcoming Friends’ activities to a variety of online sources, helps with Friends’ book sales and volunteers for other FoL events.
Judi and her husband Duane became part-time residents of Black Mountain in 2002 and full-time residents in 2014, when they both retired. Judi spent most of career as a school librarian then as a school library educator, teaching at Texas Tech and Georgia Southern Universities. She’s a lifetime member of the American Library Association and held a variety of positions in ALA and AASL (the American Association of School Librarians). It’s no surprise that Judi’s favorite hobby is reading! Judi enjoys travel and her most recent trip was a cruise in the Greek Islands. Cooking, crochet, and a rediscovered love of jigsaw puzzles during the pandemic are some of her other hobbies.
In addition to volunteering with FoL, Judi is a member of Kiwanis and volunteers with Kiwanis and other community non-profit organizations. She is a very busy woman. Judi and Duane celebrated their 49th anniversary in January! Their son, daughter-in-law, and 10-year-old grandson live in Las Vegas. Say hello to Judi and Duane when you see them walking their dog Pepper around Black Mountain!
