February Volunteer of the Month
Ron Marcello grew up in northern New Jersey, spent a short time as a hippie in California, and settled in Ohio joining the fire department there in 1975. He retired from the fire department in 2002 at the rank of Captain. During his time in Dayton, he met and married Jane Marcello who is also a wonderful Friends volunteer.
After retiring in Florida, Ron took up golf, remodeled their home, and then he and Jane traveled extensively throughout the US in their camper. Then, the Florida heat, skeeters and no-see-ums became too much and they began looking for a new retirement home. Luckily, they decided on Black Mountain and Ron says they have fallen in love with the people and the area. Now, Ron enjoys many artsy projects and volunteering.
Ron always graciously volunteers his time to help FOL with books sales, special events and anything that requires a strong arm.
