Celebrating National Poetry Month and the Dark City Poets
The Dark City Poets Society (DCPS) had the honor of being highlighted in the April issue of Our State magazine! So fitting for National Poetry Month. The DCPS has been working with Our State magazine over the past year to create this beautiful four-page article that ties together Black Mountain’s rich poetic history with its present-day poetry scene. If you are not a subscriber, the Black Mountain Library has a non-circulating copy at the Front Desk. Please stop by and spend a few minutes reading about this special group.
During the month of April, the Dark City Poets Society has several other events:
April 2, 6-7:30pm Workshop Circle
DCPS is a completely free poetry group that is open to writers of all ages and experience levels.
Join us at the Black Mountain Library the first Tuesday of every month for our (respectful) feedback group.
April 16, 6-8pm, Open Mic Night at Oak & Grist
Join DCPS at Oak & Grist Distilling Company (1556 Grovestone Rd, Black Mountain) the third Tuesday of every month for a poetry reading. $1 from every classic cocktail goes to the FOL.
April 23 from 6-8pm, Publishing Workshop Join the DCPS for a free publishing workshop led by John Himmelheber, editor of Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine, along with Ivy Rosen, editor of Black Mountain Press. Learn tips and tricks on how to get published and what the best practices are for submitting your work for consideration. This workshop is open to all ages, and no registration is required.
