WNC Repair Café Success
The Black Mountain Library hosted its first-ever WNC Repair Café Sewing & Mending event on March 14. Wow and Thank You! We had a great turnout from community volunteers and participants. As the doors opened, our first community members arrived with items for repair and the parking lot was full to overflowing less than an hour later. The Repair Café remained busy and active until closing. Ten volunteers worked to hand-repair sweaters, sew up a pillow, stitch a tee-shirt, mend a quilt, hem a garment and more.
As one participant noted, “It was such a lovely, friendly atmosphere with people helping people for free. What a lovely gift to the community.”
Our next Sewing & Mending event is scheduled for Thursday, November 14 from 4-7pm. Mark your calendars!
